BioBoost Unamended Biochar

Plain biochar for your soil-building mix

BioBoost is unamended biochar with no added fertilizers, extracts, or microbial inoculants. Prepare it with compost, then blend it into your garden soil or potting mix.

Its porous structure provides habitat for soil microorganisms and can help retain nutrients and water. Results depend on the soil, plants, and application rate.

Choose your size

• 1.5 lb: Makes about 17 gallons of finished soil blend at the 5% biochar rate below.
• 6 lb: Makes about 69 gallons of finished soil blend at the 5% biochar rate below.

Finished volumes are planning estimates, based on the raw-supply specification of 350 lb per 27 cubic feet. Moisture, particle size, and settling affect volume; use scoops when mixing.

Sizes are net product weight, excluding packaging. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

What’s inside

Biochar only. This product is supplied unamended and is not pre-charged with nutrients.

Prepare before planting

1. Gently wet the biochar to reduce dust.
2. Mix approximately equal volumes of biochar and finished compost or worm castings. Keep the mixture moist and allow about two weeks for conditioning before use.
3. For a small initial trial, mix 1 part of this prepared blend with 9 parts soil or potting mix. This gives approximately 5% biochar in the final mix by volume.

Measure with the same cup or scoop throughout. Biochar is much lighter than castings, so mix recipes by volume rather than substituting equal weights.

Biochar is a soil amendment, not a complete fertilizer or stand-alone growing medium. Start with a small planting area to see how your plants respond.

Handling and storage

Avoid breathing dust. Store covered and keep the package protected from the weather.
